I’m excited to share that Filter Control Widgets (client-facing filters) are now live for all Whatagraph users, including all plans!
This feature was the most requested by our users over the past two years, and we’re thrilled to finally make it available to you.
✨ What’s new?
You can now add Filter Control Widgets to your reports, allowing your clients or report viewers to adjust filters themselves.
These filters work in the same way as regular source-level filters. If a filter isn’t supported on the data source itself, it won’t be available via the control widget either.
Filters can be used both when editing reports and by end readers when viewing shared report links.
📌 You can check out the full release notes and a short demo video here: https://wg.canny.io/changelog/empower-your-clients-with-filter-control-widgets

Isolate, Filter & Search Data - Live & Shared Reports

In many data visualisation tools when a user views a dashboard or report they have the ability to isolate, filter or search the data based on the date range selection they have chosen (or is pre-set in the widget).
It would be great to see these features available in Whatagraph.
Isolate Data
- Particularly important for charts & graphs.
- Allows the users to click a line, bar, or segment of a chart/graph and grey out all other data to isolate a specific metric for analysis.
- Allows the user to click CTR + click (similar to above) to select multiple lines, segments or bars for review.
- Example tool - Looker
Filter
- Particularly useful for tables, it would be ideal if a user could filter on shared reports based on the data and date range provided. E.g. I might want to filter for a campaign name, or a particular product category instead of having to set up multiple widgets. The summary rows should update (similar to Google Analytics) when the filter is applied.
Search
- this is particularly valuable, like filters, on tables (similar to Google Analytics)
- users should be able to search any of the column in the table widgets to narrow their selection when using the live shared reports

We have a client that specifically is hesitant on using Whatagraph over Google's Looker Studio purely because of this feature not being available

We would also love to have this feature, as the lack of it is a key reason why Whatagraph is often not suitable for many of our clients. This limitation makes it difficult for us to use Whatagraph efficiently and prevents us from moving away from our Looker Studio dashboards. Ideally, we would like a filter widget, similar to Excel slicers, that allows end users to easily filter data within the dashboard. For example, filtering by GA4 channels such as organic or paid, just as it's currently possible to filter by the report date.

Ideally we would like the viewer to also be able to download the data from tables and widgets like you can on the live report in edit mode :)

Possibility to add a widget with a filter (ex: filter by campaign, by channel, by country) that when you select that filter all the data of the report adjusts. Similar to the functionality of the date, being able to allow the edition of that filter.
